Week 1 - Getting Started

The first thing I needed to do for my passion project was research different types of cameras to see which ones I would be interested in purchasing. I decided on a Nikon D3200. One of the things that I really liked about this camera is that is has a Guide Mode. The Guide Mode helps you see the cameras key feature, and gives you suggestions on how to use them. The Guide Mode is easy to access because it is installed in the camera and it is very easy to understand, which is very helpful to me so that I'm not always confused on what setting I should be using when taking a certain type of picture.

The Nikon D3200 also has 6 scene modes and scene auto selector. Experienced photographers usually make the best of the settings that they have on their cameras, but with the D3200 all you have to do is turn the dial to the scene selector that you think would be most useful when shooting a certain scene. It also has fast and accurate shooting and has a 11-point Autofocusing System.

The nikon D3200 comes with a AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm lens. This lens is suppose to be a high performance VR image stabilized lens. NIKKOR lenses have a very high rating. Also if I am unhappy about how this lens performs I can always buy a different lens from Nikon. Nikon has over 70 legendary NIKKOR lenses that you could choose from. However,  I'm sure this lens will be just fine for this project.

Also this week I created my Flickr account. My username is raychel.algera@gmail.com. I have not uploaded any pictures on it yet, but I plan on uploading pictures next week.
